Project Positions in Department of Remote Sensing

Name of the Post: Junior Research Fellow

Applications are invited for One post for JRF under ISRO-RESPOND, Government of India sponsored project: “Quantifying the Spatio-Temporal rhythm of vegetation growth, health and its vulnerability due to climate change in different forest ecosystem in North-Eastern India using time-series satellite data”: PI – Dr. C. Jeganathan.

  Above project will be executed in the Department of Remote Sensing, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. Initial appointment shall be made for 1year duration and likely to be extended on satisfactory performance. These positions shall be co-terminus with the project.

Emoluments:

JRF:  Rs. 31,000/-  + 16% HRA per month

 Educational Qualification:

M. Tech. Remote Sensing/ Environmental Science, M.Sc in Forestry /Ecology with Remote Sensing/ Geoinformatics and Allied discipline (with knowledge of RS & GIS) with 1^st class.

 IMPORTANT NOTE: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course must be selected through a process described through any one of the following :

a. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant professorship) and GATE.

b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government, Departments and their Agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT,DAE,DOS,DRDO,MHRD,ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.

 Desired Requirement:

• Preference will be given to candidate with hands-on experience in RS GIS Tools and S/W.
• The candidate must be willing to take field work in the North Eastern region of India.
• Knowledge about Indian vegetation and ecosystem.
