Job description (Research Officer/Coordinator (GIS)

Job Responsibilities: This position would provide an exciting opportunity for interested candidates to establish and manage a GIS lab to support research projects in different parts of the city/country. The candidate would be expected to perform the following tasks:

1. Establish required GIS infrastructure at the organization

2. Conduct the ground work and prepare the baseline maps that will inform procurement of appropriate satellite maps, software and equipment by the site

3. Training, handholding and supervising GIS mapping team

4. Follow uniform SOPs for implementation, monitoring and quality assurance

5. Maintain coordination between GIS, Census and IT teams

6. Conducting geospatial analysis

7. Represent the organization at various forums.

Skills and Qualifications: M.Sc./ M.Tech/ in Geo-informatics/ Remote sensing or higher qualification in Geo-informatics

Proficiency in remote sensing image processing, Handling DGPS and ArcGIS, Quantum, ERDAS, GRASS etc GIS software.

Desirable: 2-5 years’ Experience in implementation of projects involving GIS based surveying

Remuneration: Commensurate with qualification and experience.
