As part of the long-term strategy development toward synergistic use of multi-sensor remote sensing techniques, we are looking for a PhD student / research scientist (f_m_x) in the field of Long-Wave Infrared (LWIR) spectral range for soil applications in support of the implementation of the Observing System MOSES (Modular Observation Solutions for Earth Systems) in the research field “Earth and Environment” of the Helmholtz-Association. The PhD will focus on the development of methods in hyperspectral thermal remote sensing with the aim of an improved retrieval of terrestrial surface information related to e.g., the separation of temperature-emissivity signal, and advancements on soil parameter estimations covering multiple scales of observation (laboratory/in-situ/air- and spaceborne).

Fixed-term: 36 months
Salary: The position is classed as salary group 13 according to “TVöD Bund (Tarifgebiet Ost)”. The salary group is determined on the basis of the Collective Wage Agreement and the respective personal qualifications.
Working hours: Part-time 75% (currently 29.25 h/week)
Place of work: Potsdam
