Job Description (Jr. GIS Analyst):
geocgi is looking for a GIS Analyst to assist a DoD client with improving and maintaining GIS data for military installations. The candidate will provide specialized technical and analytical geospatial assistance that will support the development and maintenance of energy and Facility Related Control Systems (FRCS) datasets. He or she will support data collection through specialized GPS equipment, SDSFIE standards integration, and quality verification processes. They will maintain geospatial data in an enterprise GIS implementation, aid in the maintenance of the geodatabase, and apply technical and programmatic knowledge of GIS. The candidate will execute the responsibilities of a GIS Analyst supporting Installation Management functions as a part of a DoD Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) Program, which include:
Responsibilities:
- GIS technical proficiency and experience with Esri ArcGIS
- Fieldwork and GPS data collection
- Understanding of an enterprise Esri ArcGIS environment to include versioned editing
- Data preparation, management, and maintenance
- Visualization and Cartography
- Data Model support and compliance
- Communicate standards, methods, quality assurance/control processes, and metrics
The following are requirements of the potential candidate:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, Survey, or IT related field
- 2+ years of experience in GIS with cartographic, analyst, editor, database or similar duties
- Experience with Esri software applications and spatial analysis
- Understanding and Knowledge in geography, scientific methods and GIS principles
- Knowledge of DoD and Federal GIS Standards and Policy
- Effective Communication both orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative and solve complex problems
- Able and willing to perform fieldwork and travel via military transportation
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
The following are desired capabilities and experience of the potential candidate:
- Ability to interact with installation SMEs and understand issues as they relate to GIS
- Experienced and knowledge in the implementation of the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE)
- Experience in DoD Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) or other DoD installation functional areas
- Able to develop maps for visualization and analysis
- Python script writing experience
- Data management experience
