Lyon County is seeking a GIS Tech
This is a non-exempt position, with amazing benefits, and career opportunities! Salary begins at $17.00 per hour, however, is dependent on experience.
The GIS Tech is responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the GIS division working closely with the Lyon County Appraiser’s Office and the Lyon County Planning & Zoning Department. They are responsible for maintaining and updating, both manually and digitally, all files and records relating to property ownership, overlays, GIS coverages and map work cards. Provide assistance to the County Appraiser and appraisal personnel in the daily performance of their duties as needed. Deliver mapping support and assistance for other county departments, legal agencies, and property owners. The position also assist the Planning/Zoning/Flood Plain Management Director in duties as needed.
A background in GIS is not required, but is preferred, along with the ability to read and interpret deeds and legal descriptions. A familiarity with maps and mapping systems such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ESRI, and DASC is also preferred, but again not required.
Candidates are required to have a Valid Kansas Driver’s License, High School diploma, G.E. D. or equivalent, and must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Successful candidate(s) will be required to pass a background check, pre-employment physical, pre-employment work screen and pre-employment drug screen.
