Essential Duties & Responsibilities (GIS Specialist)

•    Create baseline maps and other data layers as requested by project staff
•    Exercises initiative, resourcefulness, and independent judgment in direction and establishment of technology solutions for the company
•    Production of maps and cartographic products that are clear and understandable
•    Database loading and data conversion
•    Assist in production of database analysis and technical reports
•    Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting to end users of the system
•    Review and convert content to appropriate file format for upload
•    Collect current information from project stakeholders 
•    Maintains administrative and technical productivity through supervisory and independent responsibility, exercises judgment and makes technical decisions
•    Oversees maintenance of organized files for maps, computer reports, field surveys, and other data
•    Providing interface between GIS staff and consulting professionals working within the organizations
•    Perform any other duties as assigned by management

Level Specific Responsibilities:  (may include but not limited to)

Level – I
•    Project assistance to program and project managers; meeting scope, schedule, and budget on assigned tasks
•    Execute assigned tasks in accordance work plans and direction from higher-level staff
•    Acquire and/or develop an area of technical expertise
•    Engage program and project managers for task assignments
•    Designs, develops, tests, and debugs GIS applications

Level – II
•    Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projects
•    Lead teams performing project tasks, both in the office and field locations
•    Technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
•    Assist with task order and project proposals
•    Technical mentoring
•    Designs, develops, tests, and debugs GIS applications

Level – III
•    Provide client assistance to program and project managers; scope, schedule, and budget on projects
•    Lead technical project execution and document preparation, peer review project documents
•    Assist with task order and project proposals
•    Designs, develops, tests, and debugs GIS applications; trains GIS staff on use of applications

Qualification Requirements

All levels:
•    Associates Degree in GIS (Geomatics) or relevant field.
       o    Experience can be substituted for education on a 1:1 basis.
•    Current driver’s license with clean driving record, ability to be covered on company insurance

Level – I
•    One (1) to Three (3) years of relevant working experience. Specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Level – II
•    Three (3) to Seven (7) years of relevant working experience. Specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Level – III
•    Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of relevant working experience. Specialized training and/or advanced degree such as MS may be substituted for work experience

Preferred Qualifications

•    GIS Certificate/Degree (Geomatics)
•    Experience working on projects with Federal clients

•    Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components 
•    Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours.
•    Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment and other materials
