Job Description (Junior Project Fellow):

Walk-in-Interview will be conducted for the following purely project-based temporary position (Junior Project Fellow) at G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Sikkim Regional Centre (GBPNIHE-SRC), Panthang, Gangtok, Sikkim. Eligible candidates may appear for Walk-In-Interview on 26 October, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. onwards at G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Sikkim Regional Centre, Panthang, Gangtok, Sikkim. Candidates must bring all original documents, certificates, testimonials, publications/thesis/dissertation/reports, etc., along with one set (photocopy) of all the documents and CV. The eligible candidates may also send advance copy of the bio-data along with application in the prescribed format with all supporting documents to the Regional Centre Head, GBPNIHE, Sikkim Regional Centre by e-mail (headskrc@gmail.com) on or before 25th October 2021. No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the interview. Age relaxation for SC/ST/Women/PH and OBC candidates will be considered as per Government of India norms. In-House project entitled “FOSTERING CLIMATE SMART COMMUNITIES IN THE INDIAN HIMALAYAN REGION (IHR)”

Salary: (@ Rs. 20,000 + 8% HRA (or min. Rs. 1,800 as per Govt. norms)
Age limit: 28 Years*

Essential Qualification:
(i) Master degree in Environmental Science/ Geography/ Geology/ RS & GIS/ Economics/ Mathematics/ Physics/ Statistics/ Physical Sciences/ Tourism/ Commerce/Social Sciences/ or other relevant disciplines.

Desirable Qualification:
(ii) Experience in conducting survey, data analysis, database handling, and office assistance
(iii) Knowledge of climate vulnerability assessment
(iv) Experience of working with community
(v) Knowledge of Statistical analysis and working on relevent software
(vi) Efficiency in Computer & RS/ GIS related work

Responsibility:

i. Field survey, collection, synthesis and analysis of data
ii. Development of climate vulnerability framework
iii. Generation of baseline information and identification of vulnerable communities hrough survey & secondary data
iv. Identification, prioritization and feasibility assessment of appropriate climate smart adaptive practices
v. Identification & documentation of Climate Smart Success Stories (CSSSs) and Climate Change Leaders (CCLs)
vi. Pilot level demonstrations for replication of appropriate technologies through value addition and networking
vii. Report preparation
viii. Other related tasks assigned time to time
